This project was aimed at making the client website WCAG & ADA compliant. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines or WCAG, created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), is considered to be the benchmark for website accessibility. We have followed WCAG guidelines to create the best and the easiest way of making the website usable for customers with disabilities.
Our “Client” is a multinational financial services company that facilitates electronic payment systems throughout the world. It operates the retail electronic payments network through the transfer of value and information among financial institutions, merchants, consumers, businesses, and government entities. It also provides electronic payment, risk management, and payment security solutions to online merchants, digital goods transactions services in online games, digital media, and social networks, as well as mobile financial services for mobile network operators and financial institutions in developing economies.
Challenges faced by our client:
As the client initiates electronic payments, they wanted minimal risks with maximum transaction security and most importantly, all services to be WCAG & ADA compliant.
The client needed an application with keyboard accessibility along with accessibility through speech and visual support tools like Screen Reader at varied Zoom levels.
Abiding by the WCAG guidelines of the content material in their application being perceivable, understandable, operable, and robust, apt solutions related to enhanced user experience in order to increase accessibility were provided. A logical separation was done with the test-driven implementation, where test cases were extracted from WCAG guidelines.
Segregated deliverables based on user experience:
To achieve these objectives and to make it more compliant, validation and verification were done through recommended and most widely used accessibility tools like:
The website accessibility follows a trajectory, that people living with disabilities can comfortably avail the services. Under the ADA/WCAG compliance regulation, it suggests how to make the website content more approachable. Here, website content refers to any natural information presented on the website. The goal of providing convenience and easy access to not only people with disabilities but also every end-user was achieved.
